Gateway to Sin

The downfall of a man is usually a result of these three things – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life. If you properly handle these three things, you will resolve a lot of your challenges. While running with the vision for your life, you must learn to discipline yourself in these three issues so your great potential can be unleashed.

Jesus went through these three temptations in life. Matthew chapter 4 talks about how Jesus was tempted by the devil after fasting for 40 days and 40 nights. He needed food after the fast and looked at what He was tempted by the lust of the flesh, through food. The devil knew He was hungry and what did he do? He dared Him to turn stone to bread if He was truly the Son of

God. And what did Jesus do? Jesus understood His identity as the Son of God and refused to fall for the temptation. Even though He could turn stone into bread, He refused to fall because He knew His purpose and the will of God for His life. He knew that the scripture says that man must not live by bread alone but by the word of God.

In the second temptation, the devil took Him to the highest top of the temple and he told Jesus to jump down and let God send His angel to pick Him up before He hit the ground. Regardless, Jesus knew it was not God’s will for His life, so He told the devil not to put God to a test.

For the third temptation, the devil took Him to a temple and showed Him riches and asked Him to bow and worship him so that He will inherit all the riches. “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts” (Haggai‬ 2:8‬ KJV)‬‬. Jesus knew all the riches belong to God, and it is commanded that man serves God alone. Jesus immediately commanded Satan to leave because He knew His purpose and was working in His divine destiny. This proves that the best way to overcome temptations is to bolster ourselves with the word of God, which is the truth. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
